The French forward, who has been under criticism since joining Real Madrid, put up a brilliant performance in his last match of the year. Mbappe scored Madrid’s first goal in a 4-2 win with a sensational strike from outside the box. He also assisted Brahim Diaz to score Madrid’s fourth goal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal and laid the foundation for another as Real Madrid beat mid-table Sevilla 4-2 to move to second place in La Liga and reduce the gap to Atletico Madrid to one point before the winter break.
Mbappe scored a powerful header from outside the box in the 10th minute before Federico Valverde scored from long range 10 minutes later to put the defending champions two goals ahead. Rodrygo scored the third from Lucas Vazquez’s cross in the 34th minute.

Sevilla pulled one back a minute later when Isaac Romero scored with a header, but Brahim Diaz restored the hosts’ three-goal lead with a superb header in the 53rd minute after Mbappe and Vazquez combined for the winner.
Sevilla got a last-minute goal through Dodi Lukebakio in the 85th minute, but Madrid won the match to move two points ahead of Barcelona, who are third on 38 points after playing one game more than the top two teams after losing 2-1 to Atletico on Saturday.
In the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund scored three times in five minutes of the first half to win 3-1 at Wolfsburg and move up to sixth.

The hosts got on the scoresheet through Denis Vavro’s header from a corner in the 58th minute. Four minutes later, Dortmund were reduced to 10 men as Pascal Gross was sent off for a last-man foul on Lukas Nmecha. Dortmund moved into the final European spot on 25 points, while Wolfsburg remain 11th on 21 points. Bayern Munich, who beat RB Leipzig 5-1 on Friday, remain top of the table with 36 points.
In Serie A, Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere was his side’s hero, acheive the last-minute second goal to secure a 3-2 win over Empoli and send his side back to the top of the table.
